The Manchester Freediving group was set up in 1999 in Cheshire and North Wales. More Freedivers have been introduced to the sport of apnea through our AIDA International Freediving school and we have continued to grow each year. We maintain contacts with as many areas as we can to give us a large network of established pockets of divers. Currently the group is headed by Steve Millard who has been in the watersports industry for over 20 years. Our central base is Manchester where most of the courses are run initially, then students are able to benefit from joining the larger network of qualified experienced divers we have diving.

We currently have groups affiliated with the British Freediving Association in Manchester, Trafford (5 mins from the Trafford centre), Stockport, Crewe, Huddersfield, Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, North Wales, Tamworth, Birmingham, South Lake District amongst others and we maintain close relationships between other UK groups so we are networked enough to help you travel anywhere around the coutry to train that a group exists. I have taught all over the UK, and also abroad. I will entertain groups and travel to you rather than you come to me if you have numbers. We follow all standards set out by our agency and Health and Safety recomendations.

There is a contact form for queries, or click on the pictures below to pick the level of Freediving course you need. The NavBar above has options to learn to Scuba dive, and we run First aid courses too. Hope to meet you soon.

Freediving, when practised properly, is a very safe sport. However there are risks so always dive with the supervision of a QUALIFIED and competent buddy. Never hold your breath alone, even in water as shallow as your bath. Someone needs to be there who knows exactly what they are looking for and what to do in case of a blackout. A casual observer or even a lifeguard who hasn't been specifically trained in apnea would not be suitable.
